Autonomous Safety is the ability of the vehicle to communicate with other vehicles and infrastructure to determine its relationship to other vehicles and road conditions in order to avoid collisions. In the fullest extent, autonomous safety involves self driving vehicles that have the capability to drive with or without human interface depending on the level of automation of the vehicle.
Terms used to describe this communication are V2V which is Vehicle to Vehicle acronym and V2I which is Vehicle to Infrastructure. These terms describe the type of communication and whom or what is communicating with each other.
The goal of autonomous safety is to remove the human error factor which is the cause of 90% of vehicle accidents and to improve the knowledge of the driver and vehicle to avoid accidents or reduce the severity.
