Public/private partnerships could help autonomous transportation gain traction, and the US Department of Transportation’s Michael Shapiro has noted the need for “collaboration within industry, between industry and government to kind of share these lessons learned and best practices so that everybody can evolve and learn, and bring this technology to market.” Autonomous vehicle companies are flocking to places like San Francisco and Arizona that prioritize conversations about the future of transportation and adopt AV-friendly policies.
